As women and mothers, our role is critical to preventing crime from invading our family’s lives.
~ Alicia Wadas, Founder and President

Alicia Wadas, founder and president of Mothers Arms, tirelessly takes this message on the road nationwide, appearing often at special events, fundraisers and national radio and TV broadcasts.
Alicia’s passion for safety began while she was a college student working alongside campus police to assist traumatized rape victims. Making certain that she would never succumb to violence, Alicia enrolled in self-defense training courses and began sharing her knowledge with other coeds.

As an office supervisor, she later witnessed the damaging effects of domestic violence on the work and health of valued employees. She saw first-hand how productivity and esteem suffers from fear and lack of personal safety.

Her teenage son's and daughter’s curiosity about guns renewed her commitment to the practice of safety and self-defense. To avoid tragedy, she attended basic firearm education classes so she could teach her kids gun safety and defuse the cool “Hollywood” image of guns. Realizing that others had the same concerns, Alicia established Mothers Arms to provide affordable safety information, guidance and support.

Alicia is certified to teach personal protection and basic firearms education. Committed to the concept of self-reliance, Alicia believes that women should become their own, best, first lines of defense until professionals arrive. She helps Mothers Arms members develop family safety plans and choose safety defense tools that match their strengths and individual circumstances. With the help of Alicia and Mothers Arms, families replace fear with skills, knowledge and confidence.
